VALE OF YORK HALF MARATHON – SUNDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER 2019

posted in: Race Reports | 0

Ten Eccleshill Road Runners hopped over to an area just outside Wistow, to run a fast, flat half marathon on closed roads north of Selby, and south of York. Organisers, Evensplits, made slight changes to the sixth edition of The Vale of York Half Marathon with a new start and finish on Windgate Lane and the roads along the route being run in a slightly different order to previous years. Race 14 of the club’s Summer Championship leaves just one final race, Kirkstall Abbey 7 mile race, which means trophy earning positions are almost certainly decided unless unsavoury tactics are brought to the fore to change this, apparently threats have been made!!

Overcast, and at times windy conditions met runners at Sherburn Aero Club making for perfect running conditions for PB seekers. Marc Steele took full advantage leading the team home in a personal best time of 1:39:50, closely followed by Mark Sutherland 1:42:36, Ian Stow 1:43:43, Simon Lacy 1:51:32, Julie Steele 1:57:36, Garry Ellison 1:57:54, Claire Tailford 1:59:13, Sarah Rawlings 2:03:13, Barbara Stow 2:38:20 and Sarah Myers 2:38:31. Well done everyone – fantastic running! Big thanks to our support crew Maxine, Tricia, Neil (photography) and Debra.
