The Macclesfield series offers a Sunday menu of race distances available for runners of every ability including a half marathon, 10k, 5k and a fun run. Hosted by Macclesfield Harriers AC, and in it’s 17th year, this Scenic countryside route passes through Prestbury village and runs along the leafy back roads of East Cheshire. All the race profits are donated to charity, including entry fees. This makes for a great atmosphere. The beautiful rural course was marshalled by over 100 enthusiastic volunteers and each of the chip timed events started and finished on Macclesfield Athletics track. With live music at strategic locations, a bespoke medal and free post race refreshments for all finishers, not to mention a free gift for the half marathon finishers, What more could any runner want? Good weather? No, this wasn’t on the menu, it rained hard, however, the clouds parted and it eventually did dry up. Sarah completed the course in 2:55:19. Well done Sarah!
