Hosted by ‘It’s Grim Up North Running’, this race offers a variety of distances starting from 10k, half marathon, 20 miles, marathon and ultra marathon. As the title might suggest, the race starts from the centre of Knaresborough climbing gently up through park land on to the old railway track between Knaresborough and Harrogate surrounded by beautiful countryside. Run on good paths and trails, this race was great underfoot making for a fast out and back. All finishers received a ‘Fat Rascal’ and local beer for their efforts. Gareth Harland and Ian Storey took on the challenge of the 32 mile ultra and Gareth had a good day at the office and finished in third place notching up a personal best time in 4:42:08, Ian completed it in a brilliant time of 5:54:11. Well done to both of you!
