Three Eccleshill Road Runners chose the beautiful surroundings of the Bolton Abbey Estate which lies in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales near Skipton for this weekends race venue. Bolton Abbey is the Yorkshire estate of the Duke of Devonshire.  Hosted by Sue Ryder, in aid of Manorlands , ‘Run Bolton Abbey’ Offers a choice of distances to suit all abilities of runners – a 10K, 10 mile, half marathon and a 2-mile fun run. Nordic walkers are also welcome on the 10K event! This event offers a unique opportunity to run on parts of the estate not usually accessible to the public and runners are guaranteed the autumnal colours will be stunning! Being Remembrance Sunday, the races started in waves at 11am after two minute’s silence was observed. The challenging routes were on a mixture of paths, tracks, woodland trails and open land, taking runners through Strid Wood, over Dicken Dike, they then climb the Valley of Desolation and the Launde Plantation and take on a stretch of Barden Fell. Conditions were made even more challenging after the recent rain.

Claire Tailford tackled the half marathon (2:06:51), Lee Matthews the 10 miler (1:46:34) and Jayne Robinson the 10k (1:26:18) – Well done to you all
