THE LEEDS AND LIVERPOOL CHRISTMAS CRACKER – SATURDAY 7TH DECEMBER 2019

David Goodyear’s weekend just wouldn’t be the same unless it included a 26 mile run, so to notch up no less than his 60th marathon he opted for this Grim up North seasonal spectacular Christmas Cracker. What was different this weekend was the fact that Annie was not running with him,Instead this time she volunteered to marshal the event and cheer her brother on (what a great gesture) This out and back race starts on the canal at Kirkstall Leeds. A real Christmas atmosphere awaited all runners. There was music and tables laden scrooge style with mulled wine chocolate and a Christmas cake as well as plum pudding and even a bauble style medal to appease all finishers.A christmas tree also included to add to the season’s celebration. The course is perfectly flat so whether it’s a shiny new PB the runners are after or to challenge themselves to a longer distance there is something on the race menu for everybody. These events normally sell out quite fast. The course is a scenic out and back along the beautiful Leeds Liverpool canal towpath. Distances on offer were 10k, half marathon, 20 miles and the full marathon. As always David took this one in his stride (pardon the pun) finishing, no problem in (05:16:11) A truly inspiring effort as always, well done David and thanks Annie great effort!
