BRIGHOUSE RESOLUTION 10K – SUNDAY 5TH JANUARY 2020

A race with a difference? Four Eccleshill Road Runners went to claim points for the Champ’s table on a Sunday evening. A rare opportunity to race on a Sunday evening brought a throng of runners out to take part in this fast, flat, closed road race at night in the centre of Brighouse, on fully lit roads. Most people would think this was an impossible feat. How did they do that? Well they did! Cannonball Running Events came up with what is billed as one of the flattest courses in the UK and Ireland. 5K or 10K options for this the 10k was the 8th race in our winter championships. Three loops starting from Sainsbury’s car park, out onto the roads through well lit industrial areas where friendly and supportive marshals played music and offered water before turning round and heading back to the car park to start the next lap. Brighouse is an Historic West Yorkshire Town, famous for its love of entertainment, art’s and several celebratory festivals and of course its industrial heritage. All distances are course measured and approved by run Britain. With a race limit of just 600 this local gem was there for the asking, a perfect evening with dry weather conditions and a potential PB going begging. With the support of local businesses and Calderdale council this was bound to be a winner.
Leading the team home was Daniel Jenkins in 42:50 followed by Marc Steele 48:47, Ian Storey 53:11 & Julie Steele 53:27

Well done Team and big thanks to our support crew!
