SIR TITUS WINTER TROT – SATURDAY 4TH JANUARY 2020

No stopping this new year for David Goodyear who is determined to ramp up the marathon portfolio, this time it’s in the form of another “It’s Grim Up North classic. The Titus Trot has something for everyone: from first time ‘5k’ers, who want to build on their distance to those who want to go the whole Ultra.(7 distances to be precise) It has a great atmosphere, brilliant support from fellow runners. As usual the races are all flat out and back and run alongside the picturesque Leeds Liverpool canal starting at Saltaire a world heritage site. All runners doing more than the 5k get to see the infamous “Five Rise Locks” close up! (the most spectacular feature of the canal) With a resurfaced towpath the going is good underfoot with just the odd muddy bits and puddle hopping after rainy spells. There were a number of road crossings which are inevitable with longer distances and runners had to be really careful at these points. An array of home made cakes awaited all finishers as did the usual chocolate, beer and bespoke medal. David clocked up yet another 26.2 miler with no problems finishing in (TBC) to make this his 62nd marathon. Fantastic running, well done!
A shout out top Annie who volunteered to marshall the race today!
