Another “Grim Up North” race series and back to back marathon number 2 in the last 48 hours.

So now we have Annie Kisluk on marathon number 62 and David Goodyear on number 65. What an amazing weekend for this running partnership. In Annie’s own exhilarating words “It was absolutely fantastic,” “A great chance to give something back to the running community” (Annie volunteered to tail run this one as well so David decided to run the whole race with her and safely escort all the runners around the route). It being another race series where on offer was a 5k, 10k, a half marathon, 20 miler and a full marathon. Now in its fourth year, this event is set to suit any participant who enjoys trail running. Set alongside the Huddersfield narrow gage canal runners experience a steady climb, testing the legs and endurance. Always popular, the race see’s both regular and new Grim Up North Runners. “It was so so challenging” said Annie, “a 2 lapper where the elements threw just about everything they could at the runners. Howling wind, freezing rain and so much mud it was unbelievable” and the second lap meant the inevitable would all have to be faced again. “If you could breathe going up them hills it was a sheer luxury.”  This marathon obviously meant that a time was not necessary it was just about getting everybody else around and lapping up a little bit of personal satisfaction. The now infamous cake table awaited all runners on their finish and of course a medal and a goody-bag. A massive achievement to both of you this weekend, well done!
