CONISTON 15K CHALLENGE – SATURDAY 3RD OCTOBER 2020

posted in: Race Reports | 0

With races few and far between at the moment – Annie Kisluk and David Goodyear may well have been wondering if this race would go ahead in these uncertain times given they had booked it some time ago. But go ahead it did.. with several options available, the duo chose to take on the less competitive version of the 15k challenge as opposed to the ‘race’.

Starting and finishing at Landing Point, Coniston Old Hall near Coniston village, the 10K Coniston Trail Run, 15K Coniston Trail Race and 15K Coniston Trail Challenge follow circuits along well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways, taking in panoramic views of Lake Coniston and the surrounding peaks of the Old Man, Swirl How, Wetherlam and Dow Crags. Underfoot conditions are generally good for those used to off road running, although there is one short section on the 15K routes which only agile mountain goats will be able to run! The event boasted a carnival atmosphere for both spectators and competitors, with live music, race commentary, food and drink all available at the start and finish. As forecast, the weather wasn’t kind, not surprising as most of the country experienced higher than average levels of rain which made conditions tough going. Well done to both of you! (Results TBC)
