WE WILL RUN KIRKSTALL – SATURDAY 24TH APRIL 2021

Plan A: Kirkstall Abbey Trail run was the race that launched ‘Its Grim Up North Running’ and for obvious reasons is very precious to them. During Covid 19 they have had to cancel the usual Kirkstall event and in a quest to keep people running came up with a new name (Pan B) ‘We Nearly Ran Kirkstall’ and rerouted to their regular route on the Leeds to Liverpool canal, sadly once again they were beaten by the bug! Plan C (not to be beaten) was put into action and the whole event moved on to this weekend and here we have ‘We Will Run Kirkstall’, a two day event offering four distances, ultra, marathon, half marathon and 8.8 miles. Perhaps ultimately a good move as we were treated to some of the most beautiful weather for running! No doubt, grateful to be able to continue to race though, two Eccleshill Road Runners took on the adapted race and completed the 8.8 mile distance (admitting to getting slightly lost along the way) Sarah Rawlings and Jayne Robinson finished the (slightly longer) race in 1:38:28 and 1:38:29 respectively. Well done ladies, brilliant running!
