On the menu 4 great runs, 50 mile 50k 10k and 1 mile fun run

3 Eccleshill Road runners Sarah Myers Sarah Rawlings and Annie kisluk took on this mammoth distance with only one aim in mind, complete the job!
This inaugural event was to be a memorable journey of 50 miles where runners reach the highest peak at 582 metres above sea level and gain a total elevation over the distance of 1834 metres.
This fantastic route took runners right through the heart of two picturesque valleys Colne and Holme in the borough of Kirklees on the edge of the Peak District National Park.
Both valleys are renowned over the last few decades as the setting of some iconic TV and film production. The route which is 90% Off road allows you to experience a mixed terrain with some beautiful trails, open moorland and wonderful vistas. However on the day things were to pan out on a whole different level. Our team of three struggled through the first 8 miles against poor visibility and rain only to find when they reached the first checkpoint it was the wrong one! (checkpoint 2 ) so they had to go back again and do the route correctly, this caused them to get lost a second time in the process. Not to be out done our intrepid team battled on and were eventually rewarded as the sun made an appearance with about 10 miles to go. From then on stunning views were the reward for having battled on through knee deep peat bogs, big hills, muddy puddles and river crossings. At the end of the day it was remarkable team spirit and camaraderie matched with determination that got them round in 10 hours and 7 minutes. A Massive hats off Team ERR’s on a brilliant effort. Well done!
