Airecentre Pacers is responsible for organising the annual Chevin Chase Boxing Day race. The Chevin Chase is a hilly, multi-terrain race starting and finishing in Guiseley via a scenic 7 mile circuit of Otley Chevin, always held on Boxing Day at 11am. Some take it seriously, others prefer to dress up and make it a festive extravaganza. The Brownlee brothers are not unfamiliar with this local event, This year though only Jonny took part (finishing in second place). Alistair’s Olympic triathlon relay team mate, Geprgia Taylor-Brown also ran taking first in the women’s race.
Now in its 43rd year the race attracts 1400 runners selling out in record time. A popular race around the Christmas festivities it attracts everyone from seasoned fell runners to fancy dress enthusiasts. Race proceeds also support a number of local charities. This year 3 Eccleshill road runners featured in the line up posting the following results on what was a cold, foggy, dreary and extremely muddy race day after an evening of snow flurries. First home was Claire Hern 54:48 followed by David Goodyear 1:27:17 and Annie Kisluk in 1:27:35 A remarkable effort at this time of year. Great running, well done!
