Like most races it was a very welcome return for the Brass Monkey after being cancelled due to Covid in 2020. Hosted by Knavesmire Harriers at York Racecourse. Once again the race lived up to it’s name as a cold, crisp morning greeted runners for the start of this ever popular, fast, flat, PB potential half marathon. Famed for its warm and friendly atmosphere, encouraging marshals and efficient organisation, this sell out race starts on Bishopthorpe Road, just past the car park entrance, runners then head south towards the lovely village of Bishopthorpe. Friendly marshals direct runners to follow the flat straight lane towards the Appleton Roebuck Airfield, where you turn left and take off in a clockwise direction to the quaint village of Appleton Roebuck. From Appleton Roebuck the route heads back to Bishopthorpe, back to the racecourse where the welcome site of that magical finish line outside of the stands comes into view. Edgar the Commentator welcomes finishers in.
Eccleshill had two runners out in the blue and white, leading the team home in a fabulous time of 1:53:43 was Charolotte Jackson, closely followed by Robert Sutton in 1:59:49. Brilliant running Team, well done!
