Another ‘It’s Grim Up North’ offering with no less than six distances to choose from: 5 miles, 10 miles, 15 miles, 20 miles, marathon & ultra marathon, all made up of 5 mile loops. This new event is billed as being perfect for all runners. Found in South Elmsall,near pontefract, Frickley country park is a former colliery, now converted into a lovely space that’s perfect for runners. For this event the five mile loop combined good paths with some challenging hills with the route being billed as ‘quiet and pretty’. All runners were rewarded with a bespoke medal, a goody bag and feast of cakes. Eccleshill’s Sarah Rawlings pulled on the blue and white to take part in this inaugural event declaring ‘ I had a fecking fantastic time at Frickley today. Great route and great marshals, and of course, great cake!’, completing the 10 mile race in 1:35:48 well done Sarah!
