DEWSBURY 10K – 6TH FEBRUARY 2022

posted in: Race Reports | 0

Following a weekend of gale force winds and rain, runners could have been forgiven for electing to stay in bed on this very dreary typical February morning, but loan ERRer Gillian Jago set off for the minster town of Dewsbury and the Dewsbury 10k. It lies by the river Calder in the metropolitan borough of Kirklees. Hosted by Dewsbury Road Runners this annual 10k event is billed as ideal for experienced runners looking for a PB or anyone wanting to set themselves a 10k challenge. It has always been a very popular event, today’s sell out event was no exception with a record 2000 entrants. The course is an out and back route along Bradford Road towards Batley, the out journey being slightly more of a pull with the usually faster route back being more challenging due to the strong head winds, both the start and finish are located on the Dewsbury Ring Road adjacent to the Railway Viaduct. Finishers were rewarded with a bright orange technical tee shirt and a printed drinking bottle. Gill finished in a brilliant time of 51:32!
