ST HELENS 10K – SUNDAY 6TH MARCH 2022

Hosted by GPW Recruitment, it is anticipated that more than 1800 runners took on this popular 10K run. The 10k chip timed run started and finished at Saints’ Totally Wicked Stadium. The St Helens 10k is arguably one of the most challenging courses in the country, with runners from all over travelling to take on the dreaded North Road hill, which is testament and a lasting legacy of the late, great Steve Prescott MBE. A local runner described the feeling of “seeing the sea of people running up North Road gives you goosebumps”. A welcome change in the weather meant a crisp, wintery sunny morning greeted runners and made for perfect conditions for running. As usual local support and marshals were amazing and never failed to disappoint.
Starting and Finishing in the Saints Rugby Ground – the route passes through the town centre, up North Road before completing most of the St Helens Parkrun Route, then heading back towards the ground. It is a hilly 10K but if you can survive the hills you can make the most of the downhills and pick up the pace. With the best bit saved until last as runners enter back into the Saints Totally Wicked Stadium where Spectators once again cheer the finishers from the comfort of the North Stand. Finishers were rewarded with both a fabulous and a technical tee shirt. Gill totally smashed it, bagging herself a 10k personal best of 49:08. Fantastic running, well done!
