THE MBNA CHESTER 10K – SUNDAY 13th MARCH 2022

Eager to ramp up the fitness and get back into a fluid race pattern is Eccleshill’s Gillian Jago. This weekend travelling over to Chester, the walled cathedral city in Cheshire. The award winning sell-out MBNA Chester 10K is Chester’s only City based 10K. It is billed as the best in the North West and is also the first event in the Chester Triple Series. The 5th edition of this award winning and sell out event is a great introductory race for new runners and an ideal stepping stone if you’re aiming for a half marathon in the future.
The event boasts a lively city centre start and finish, with a route that passes many of Chester’s iconic landmarks. The fast course starts from Chester Racecourse and heads north-west out of the City along wide roads allowing runners to rapidly settle into race pace. Runners then pass close to the picturesque village of Mollington, before returning to the heart of Chester City centre and finishing outside the historic Victorian Town Hall and Mediaeval Cathedral, before finishing on Eastgate Street with a spectacular backdrop of the Eastgate Clock. Finishers received a fabulous race medal and an amazing goody bag stuffed full of well earned rewards! A severe headwind put paid to many of the participants plans of achieving a personal best time, Gill posted a brilliant time of 50:23 despite her initial disappointment in not gaining her PB she conceded that she had put in a sterling effort! Well done Gill!
