A brand new event to the Leeds running calendar today saw Vicky Cousins represent the mighty ERR’s (past participants may remember a similar event hosted by The British Heart Foundation). A beautiful Spring morning greeted runners at the stunning Harewood House. Disappointingly though, the organisation didn’t go to plan for the organisers ‘Nice Works Events’, an administrative error meant race packs weren’t posted out leading to queues for pick up and subsequently meant delayed starts. Participants did though, get to follow in the footsteps of the stars at Harewood House. This tourist attraction boasts picturesque scenery and has even been the set of ITV’s Victoria, and the 2019 Downton Abbey film. On offer was a choice of a one lap 5K or a two lap10k amongst the secure, traffic free, undulating trails surrounding this stunning estate. Organisers also offered a free 2k Children’s race. The fully marked and marshalled course was challenging in parts with rocky, tree root obstacle course like, wooded areas coupled with a huge hill to negotiate made for a tough day at the office. Finishers were rewarded with a bespoke medal and goodies. Vicky finished the race in 62:27, well done Vicky!
