The Guiseley Gallop returned today, Easter Sunday, for its 25th staging in and around Esholt Woods near Guiseley. The event marks race number 2 in Eccleshill’s Summer Championships earning members completing the course, valuable points on the championship table. The race, hosted by Skyrac Athletic Club is a very challenging 2 lap course, multi terrain in the extreme as runners encounter copious amounts of mud, wooded areas, tree roots, rocky parts and a sprinkling of decent tarmac paths to compliment the full array. Sponsored by Otley’s Yorkshire Runner running shop. This great Easter Sunday challenge offers a bottle of Saltaire Brewery beer for every finisher. Today’s Gallopers whizzed round the course posting some pretty impressive times given the challenges coupled with the warm weather. Those who took up the challenge were:
David Goodyear 64:45, Gillian Jago 59:04, Julie Steele 65:46, Martin Steele and Marc Steele 56:15. Martin Sadly did not finish the race due to twisting his ankle just 1k into the race and having to pull out.
