Hosted by Brighouse Bumble Bees this was the second edition of the Willow Valley Flyer. Eccleshill Road Runners were pleased to promote this as race number 4 in our summer championships!
Gillian Jago and Julie Steele took on the challenge today making sure the blue and whites were represented at this event. Beginning with 1.5 miles of uphill the 7.5 mile 1 lap multi terrain course on road, bridleway and footpath. This was a run of very deceptive undulation, taking in rarely seen views of this part of Calderdale and Kirklees. The route took runners through the scenic Willow Valley Golf Course, which is predominantly road with a “splattering” of trail to keep the mud lovers smiling. Entry included a little bling to hang around your neck but more importantly a donation to Overgate Hospice. An optional technical tee shirt was available at an additional cost. In stark contrast to Saturday’s very warm weather, an overcast but dry morning made for perfect running conditions after overnight rain threatened to reverse this. Gill finished in 1:10:11 and Julie in 1:13:59. Fantastic running, well done!
