David Goodyear and Sarah Myers braved the warm and windy conditions today to see off this grueling 2 lap race with one massive hill to negotiate. The blue and white flag being firmly planted on the top of the Odda. “Up the Odda” is a series with a choice of 10k, 5k or duo team relay (2 x 5k) on Baildon Moor and up the Odda! There were also various childrens races consisting of 2 mile, 1 mile and a shorter race for 5 & 6 year olds. The race is hosted in association with Baildon Runners, all proceeds go to Friends of Howarth School. This 10 kilometre trail race consists of 2 undulating laps and has an entry limit of 300. Both Eccleshill Road Runners, Sarah Myers and David Goodyear accepted the tough 10k challenge. As usual Hawksworth School took full advantage of their stunning location, perched on the side of a hill between the Aire and Wharfe valleys the route takes in some stunning scenery and the organisation is second to none! The first “Odda”  took place in 2013. Several years later in 2018 they introduced a brand new route starting at the top of the now famous hill. After an enforced break (Covid 19 pandemic), it was back to business again. The race is assisted by some of the friendliest marshals around with wonderful home baked goodies on offer at the finish and a quality memento of a T-shirt for all finishers. David finished this one in 01:10:13 and Sarah in 01:21:20 fantastic running you two, well done!
