Race 11 in the club’s Summer championship came in the shape of the Run Harrogate 10k. Hosted by Harrogate Harriers the run Harrogate 10k race is a multi terrain race set in the beautiful Crimple Valley area of the famous spa town of Harrogate. It follows an undulating route that is approximately 70% tarmac road, with the rest on good footpaths. A fine dry slightly overcast morning gave way to pockets of sunshine and warmer temperatures making it tough going for the start of this years event.

The course has been specifically designed to be suitable for all levels of runner. It will appeal to those contemplating their first race, but also to seasoned club runners who are looking for a challenge. This year there was also a kids fun run, for school years 2-9 before the main event. All finishers received a ‘goody bag’ including a participation medal. Reverting back to pre-pandemic arrangements there was a mass start plus plenty of refreshments and family entertainment. Prizes were given out after the race as usual.

Gillian finished today’s race in 54:12 and Annie in 68:14 Great running Ladies, well done!
