It was race 12 in the Eccleshill Road Runners Summer championships and it was a hot one. With temperatures soaring from early morning the going was destined to be tough. This half is a fast and flat road race taking place in this beautiful and scenic part of the Wharfedale Valley. Five Eccleshill Road Runners braved the heat to represent us today. The route is on closed tarmac road and is mildly undulating for the most part except for a couple of short steep hills, one at about mile two and another around mile eleven. The good weather brought out the supporters and all credit to the fantastic marshals along the way. The event started and finished at West Holmes fields on Middleton avenue Ilkley, this is also where the event village could also be found. With four water points along the route in an attempt at keeping the runners suitably refreshed, a tall task today. The event is billed as suitable for every level of runner so ideal for first timers and seasoned runners just looking to challenge themselves in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. The finishers and times were as follows Claire Hern 1:42:09, Tony Redmond 1:55:35, Gillian Jago 2:02:45, David Goodyear 2:12:47, and Robert Sutton 2:36:42. Fantastic running team, well done!
