JAMES HERRIOT COUNTRY TRAIL RUN – SUNDAY, 31ST JULY 2022

posted in: Race Reports | 0

This is race 14 in the Eccleshill Summer championships and after a successful run last year, the organisers, The Rotary Club of Wensleydale, were keen to hold the event in more normal conditions. This traffic free and well marshalled run now in its17th year takes place over the same scenic route on moorland tracks and paths near Castle Bolton in Wensleydale thanks to the kind permission of Lord Bolton himself. Early rain gave way to muggy, warm conditions adding to the challenge. The course is a challenging one with a momentary downhill start soon turning into a vast uphill trek. The views at the top of the 2 mile hill though, are absolutely stunning! The course then takes runners through undulating rugged fields, moorland and gravel paths before they begin the downhill descent back to where they started. The event is limited to 300 runners and this year, managed to sell out. The extensive prize list this year includes cash prizes for the winning male and female veterans as well as team shields for ladies, mens and mixed teams. Earning valuable points on the championship table (and a cup of water!) were Marc Steele, Gillian Jago & Julie Steele. (RESULTS TBC)

Well done folks and a big thanks to Martin for his support!
