TRIMPELL 20 MILE – SUNDAY 21ST AUGUST 2022

Eccleshill’s Gillian Jago in the midst of marathon training chose the Trimpell 20 mile race for this weekend’s training run. Running through the historic City of Lancaster and the Lancashire Lune Valley countryside, the Trimpell 20 is 90% traffic free and is a flat and fast course, perfect for progressing the marathon miles. Usually billed as ideal for London marathon, Gill, however is in training for two of the alternative majors, both the Chicago and New York Marathons. Trimpell is a friendly race which is organised by a team of dedicated runners and provides a warm welcome with good support along the route. The race venue was at the 315 Health Club and the race started on the riverside path behind the Holiday Inn. Today’s weather, although starting out overcast and quite breezy, the clouds soon gave way to the sun making for hot conditions come the start time of 11 am. Gill found it tough going out there today as the hot conditions got hotter during the race, after feeling unwell at the finish thankfully she recovered quite well and finished in a respectable 3:23:33. Well done Gill!
