The heights Ultra Trail event offers a choice of four distances 50 mile, 50k, 10k and a 1 mile fun run, in other words something for literally everyone! A Team from Eccleshill took on the 50k distance which takes participants through the heart of the two picturesque valleys, Colne & Holme valleys in the borough of Kirklees on the edge of the Peak District National Park.
Both valleys renowned over the last few decades as the setting of some iconic TV and film production, and the route which is approx 90% off road allowed runners to experience a mixed terrain with beautiful trails, open moorland and wonderful vistas.
This years event was a memorable journey on foot of 50KM, taking in the highest peak in West Yorkshire at 582 metres above sea level and a total elevation gain of just over 1000 metres. The Eccleshill Team pulled together to support each other through the vast and challenging terrain, teamwork, grit and determination at it’s best right there! Well done to Sarah Myers, Annie Kisluk, Sarah Rawlings and David Goodyear.
