MANCHESTER HALF MARATHON – SUNDAY 9TH OCTOBER 2022

The Manchester half is a 13.1 mile challenge that takes place every October, starting and finishing by Old Trafford football ground and is easily the biggest in the region with over 15,000 runners. It is an event that aims to truly represent the wonderful people of Manchester and celebrate their achievements. Eccleshill’s Sophie May chose the event as her first race in the blue and white.
Since its launch in 2016 it has received rave reviews from participants, thanks to its professional delivery, flat route and amazing support from crowds around the course. This year, the event returns to its own dedicated weekend for the first time since October 2019. Together with its sister run, the adidas Manchester Marathon. The organisers are proud to say that in 2021 these combined events raised over £3.2million for charity, and an even larger financial benefit to the local communities. Additionally each year £1 of every entry goes into the Trafford Active fund, which aims to build a long lasting sport and physical activity legacy within Trafford, through helping local organisations and charities to get residents more active, more often. There was a new route for 2022, covering more areas of Manchester than ever before. The start and finish area were the same as previous. However, this year the Manchester half runners cruised into the city centre for the first time.
All finishers received a bespoke medal to commemorate their efforts today.
Sophie completed this half in 1:58:11 Great running well done!
