ST AIDANS TRAIL HALF MARATHON – SUNDAY 16TH OCTOBER 2022

posted in: Race Reports | 0

This is the famed half marathon that takes runners round not one, but two nature reserves! The St Aidan’s Trail Half Marathon starts and finishes at the picturesque St Aidan’s RSPB nature reserve but also takes in the equally scenic Fairburn Ings nature reserve. The course starts close to the RSPB visitor centre at St Aidans and follows the River Aire for a spin round Fairburn Ings before returning back to St Aidan’s. Eccleshill’s David Goodyear chose this event as an alternative to a Lakeland 15k challenge staged the day before. Unfortunately, David has been under the weather so made the decision to rest up and take on the trail half today. The weather was kind providing Autumn sunshine and dry, if a little chilly, conditions for a good run. David finished in 2:23:32. Great running and well done!
