THE LEEDS ABBEY DASH 10K FOR AGE UK – SUNDAY 23RD OCTOBER 2022

It’s always a memorable occasion when you first join a running club but even more so when you enter your first race! Such is that milestone for Briar Speight and what a classic event to cut your teeth on.
Joined by just one other Eccleshill Runner, Katie Glossop, it was a very wet start line as the relentless rain poured down making for very wet conditions for runners and supporters alike.

An annual event on the racing Calender, this exciting event takes place in Leeds City Centre on a flat course is perfect for runners of all ages and levels. There is a fun atmosphere that makes for a truly memorable day, eben if it was a tad damp this year! Starting and finishing on the Headrow in Leeds centre the 36th edition saw thousands of runners enjoying the atmosphere as they wound their way through the closed off streets of Leeds before heading out to Kirkstall Abbey for an about turn back to the finish line.
Sadly 1.2 million older people across the UK say they often feel lonely. Age UK believe no older person should struggle alone. That’s why they’re determined to be there, providing information, support, friendship and advice. By taking part runners are helping to provide that service for older people in Yorkshire and across the UK.
Welcome to the racing fraternity Briar and well done to both Katie and Briar for completing the race in horrendous conditions. A big well done to the support crew flying the flag for the club to support the race too! Katie finished in 64:55 & Briar 65:13 fabulous running!
