BRADFORD CITY RUNS – SUNDAY 30TH OCTOBER, 2022

Hosted by Bradford Council in conjunction with Bradford Athletics Network (BAN), the annual Bradford City Runs is a festival of running with a unique format: one 5K loop to create 3 race distances. The 5K loop of Bradford city centre takes in City Park, Bradford University, the Broadway and Little Germany. One lap gets you 5K, two gets you 10K, and 4 (and a bit) gets you a half marathon. All that was left to do was choose your distance! Trevor Rhodes chose the 5k, Daniel Jenkins (& son Josh) the 10k and Daniel Kirkham and Paul Croston braved the half marathon. Not much of a festival atmosphere was to be had this year though as numbers of both runners and supporters were very sparse which inevitably must have made for a lonely half marathon run for some as on occasion there wasn’t another runner in sight. Autumnal, overcast conditions met runners in Centenary Square where a warm up preceded the short walk to the start outside the historic Alhambra Theatre where a short time after crossing the start line all runners turned left onto Thornton road to start their first loop. One loop later and Trevor was finished and bagged 1st in his age category in 23:52, two loops later and Josh Jenkins gave dad Dan a run for his money down the finish funnel, they both crossed the line in 55:25!!. Four (and a bit) loops later and Paul Croston (1:59:21) and Dan Kirkham (2:06:18) had the half marathon in the bag! A massive well done everyone and big thanks to the ERR support crew!
