Barbara Stow and Sarah Rawlings this weekend chose to travel over to the second largest settlement in South Yorkshire, the town of Doncaster for the Doncaster 10k. Hosted by Curly’s Athletes this was the 6th edition of the race … the now triple award winning event! The Doncaster 10k won the best in Yorkshire 3 years running and placed 2nd (or silver) in the national 10k category at the national running awards!  This year, an unseasonable but very pleasant Autumnal morning greeted runners at the amazing venue, Doncaster Racecourse and went on an adventure with an excellent course around the centre of Doncaster City. The racecourse is the race event area with music pumped out of the stadium, food & drink plus spectator seating to view a fantastic finishing straight right in front of the grandstand! It boasts a fast town centre based route (with minimal elevation… just a little cheeky mound at around 7.5k) making for a fantastic opportunity to secure that personal best time! At Curly’s, their goal is to promote an active lifestyle, through providing people with inspirational, fun, great value and high quality physically challenging events. They know the benefits of this to individuals and community are huge, both in terms of physical and mental well-being, this of course means their events are hugely popular and sell out fast! The 2023 event is open already! Our two ladies in blue and white sporting their horsey names on their numbers finished in fabulous times of: Sarah (You Silly Filly) 54:29 and Barbara 64:56 (Stowie). Well done ladies!
