DEWSBURY 10K – SUNDAY 5TH FEBRUARY 2023

Eccleshill had five runners out in the blue and white today vying for space in and amongst the 2200+ runners in this year’s Dewsbury 10k road race. Hosted by Dewsbury Road Runners this is undoubtedly a fast, and furious, flat race suitable for those seeking that 10k personal best time and similarly those of all abilities, making for a vastly popular race in the race Calendar which sells out year on year. As temperatures plummeted overnight a cold, frosty morning greeted runners to the Kirklees market town and although very cold, runners received a warm welcome! Starting in the city centre, the route is an ‘out and back’ with a gentle elevation on the outward leg. The rise between the start point and the turn at 5km is approximately 42m (138ft), making it all ‘downhill’ for the last 5k. Well organised and more than adequately marshalled by fabulously encouraging and enthusiastic marshals, the race organisers even included Bhangra Dohl drummers to keep runners upbeat on both the out and back legs of the race and wall to wall supporters cheering them home! Leading the pack home was Daniel Jenkins in 41:44, followed by Gillian Jago 51:53, Annie Kisluk 55:59, David Goodyear 59:22 and Sarah Myers 61:46 Well done Team!!
