Rounding off a busy weekend of racing was the North Lincolnshire Half Marathon. Hosted by Tape2Tape events, this flat, fast and friendly race has a fabulous finish with a lap inside the local running track. No doubt adding to the popularity of the race which has grown over the years with many runners achieving a personal or age group best performance. It is ideally timed for anyone undertaking a Spring marathon or for those who want a good, fast early season time. In addition to the half marathon the organisers also offer a 10k. The event is designed so that both races start and finish in exactly the same place. Runners start from Scotter Road in Scunthorpe, from there the route takes them into the rural parts of Messingham, East Butterwick and Burringham before finishing at Quibell Park Stadium. The 10k started at 09:00, the half marathon at 09:40. Eccleshill’s Claire Hern & Robert Sutton both chose the half marathon distance on what proved to be a perfect day for running, an overcast if a little chilly start warmed a few degrees with some Winter sun appearing later. Claire finished in a fantastic time of 1:31:13 (6th in her age category) and Robert 1:59:19. Well done!
