This fabulous hidden gem is often overlooked as a place to visit in South Yorkshire but host to this race, it is now in its fifth year. This annual event has become one of IGUN’s favourites at the now-ruined abbey in the civil parish of Maltby, Rotherham, South Yorkshire. In keeping with It’s Grim Up North’s races there were a variety of distances on offer. With a mixed terrain, moderately hilly 6.55 mile loop in beautiful countryside around Roche Abbey, making up the various distances to suit a wide variety of runners. Sarah Myer decided on the 10k as a Sunday training run to earn a bespoke medal and homemade cakes at the finish line. Well done Sarah!
