The Round Sheffield Run is an exciting, innovative and social concept that brings the best bits of running into one memorable event. It’s 24km of Superb Trails & Parkland across Sheffield. An exhilarating running journey showing you some of the very best trails and parkland through the UK’s greenest city. A smorgasbord of bite-sized stages, each of the 11 timed stages have a unique character and challenge where every runner can expect rewarding climbs, amazing scenery, and smile-inducing, flowing trails. 11 mini races in one. 11 runner’s highs!
Every stage is raced and timed individually, so you can walk to recover, relax and regroup with friends between stages, ready for the next one. On completion, finishers are given a time for each stage, and a time overall which you receive within seconds of finishing. So there is room for friendly competition aplenty! You can run solo or as a pair, the choice is yours. Regardless, you’ll feel huge support from those around you. The race is open to all from top elites to those just starting out (so yes, that includes you)! Billed as “one of the best-organised, friendliest and most fun runs around” The RSR is all about amplifying the best bits of running: the atmosphere around the course, the laughs, the smiles, the whoops, the high fives, the shared food and drink. The post-race festival atmosphere includes draft ales, tasty food, live music and a great DJ ensuring that everyone can celebrate and exchange stories in style. Following Dan Jenkins promotion of this event 5 other Eccleshill Road Runners took the bait. Those attracted to join Dan chose the Saturday event, whereas (not surprisingly) Dan opted for both Saturday and Sunday. An extremely hot, sunny morning greeted runners at Endcliffe Park and although some of the stages we through shady woodland the conditions were overall very hot and humid making for challenging conditions. Two feed stations were extremely welcome where runners were treated to jelly babies, water and bananas before continuing on the journey. Eccleshill’s RSRers were Dan Jenkins Saturday/Sunday individual; Linda Bussey Saturday individual; Sarah Rawlings Saturday individual; Garry Ellison Saturday individual and Julie & Martin Steele mixed pairs. Fantastic weekend, fantastic support and brilliant team effort, well done all!
