TADCASTER 10 MILE RACE – SUNDAY 19TH NOVEMBER, 2023

Two Eccleshill Road Runners took on this popular 10 miler on what turned out to be a cold, drizzly Sunday morning. The Tadcaster 10 is a popular 10 mile race established in 1983 by Tadcaster Methodist Church before Tadcaster Harriers had even been formed. The Harriers subsequently took it on and it was a fixture on the Summer calendar until the last race in 2002, the route closely follows the original route, doing a loop around Tadcaster centre before heading out East, taking in the villages of Catterton, Healaugh and Wighill. There was a drink station out on the course around the 5 mile mark with a mixture of paper cups and plastic bottles. Race HQ was situated at The Barn on St Josephs Street. The race then started outside Race HQ on St Josephs Street. Each finisher received a custom Tadcaster 10 medal and some tasty treats. There were also big cash prizes for male and female age groups and anyone breaking the course record and although new records were set in 2022, they stood in 2023! Ecclehsill’s Claire Hern stormed home in 1:10:39 followed by Robert Sutton 1:37:19. Fabulous running! Well done to you both!
