DEWSBURY 10k – SUNDAY 4TH FEBRUARY, 2024

Eccleshill’s Dan Jenkins couldn’t resist a last minute offer of a number for this popular, sold out event. Vying for space in and amongst the 2200+ runners in this year’s Dewsbury 10k road race, Dan was once again taking on back to back weekend races! Hosted by Dewsbury Road Runners this is undoubtedly a fast, and furious, flat race suitable for those seeking that 10k personal best time and similarly those of all abilities, making for a vastly popular race in the race Calendar which famously sells out year on year. In stark contrast to some years, a dull (but extremely mild for the time of year,) morning greeted runners to the Kirklees market town where runners receive a warm welcome, there is a positive buzz around the start area as the excitement builds! Starting in the city centre, the route is an ‘out and back’ with a gentle elevation on the outward leg. The rise between the start point and the turn at 5km is approximately 42m (138ft), making it all ‘downhill’ for the last 5k. Pacers from 40 minutes to 75 minutes and musicians along the route will encourage you to run your best possible race. Well organised and more than adequately marshalled by fabulously encouraging and enthusiastic marshals in addition to wall to wall supporters cheering them home! Despite his monumental race yesterday, Dan stormed home in a brilliant time of 42:11!
