Eccleshill’s Vicky Cousins and Sarah Rawlings took on the 10k distance today as part of The Bingley B*ll*cks multi-distance event hosted by ‘It’s Grim Up North Running’. The race starts and finishes on the canal at Bingley close to the Fisherman’s Inn on a picturesque and much quieter section of the canal. The race then ventures out towards Skipton. The distance menu from this race organiser offered a 5k, 10k, 10 mile, half marathon, 20 mile, marathon and ultra, something for everyone!
The route, as you might expect, was by and large flat with the small challenge of the 3 and 5 rise locks. The canal towpath was quite good underfoot with runners encountering the occasional mud patch or puddle given the amount of rain recently. Today though, was perfect conditionfor running as Winter sunshine made it feel almost like Spring was in the air. Billed as perfect for that elusive personal best time at each distance and also perfect for those training for a Spring marathon. All finishers received a bespoke medal, goodie bag of beer and chocolate and in addition trophies were awarded to the first male and female runner in each distance. Sarah finished in 62:49 and Vicky in 62:35 Great running ladies, well done!
