SNAKE LANE 10 MILE – SUNDAY 18TH FEBRUARY, 2024

posted in: Race Reports | 0

Hosted by Pocklington Runners, this popular and well established race and is billed as a fairly flat, fast 10 miler, ideal as part of a Spring Marathon training plan or as an early target for your season. As the name suggests, the course has a winding stretch that snakes its way through the countryside at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds. Eccleshill’s Gemma Illingworth out in the blue and white, added this to her repertoire as part of her London Marathon training, and in today’s perfect running conditions bagged herself a 10 mile personal best time! Winter sun greeted runners to this lovely market town at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds in the East Riding of Yorkshire, for the 32nd edition of the race. The busy (as as usual) sold out race is run on closed roads, has two water stations on the route and the finish area is in Pocklington town centre surrounded by local cafes and an ice cream parlour! Perfect! Gemma was joined by second claimer Ian Storey and finished in a fantastic personal best time of 1:28:11. Well done!
