KEIGHLEY 5K & 10K – SUNDAY 10TH MARCH, 2024

posted in: Race Reports | 0

Nine Eccleshill Road Runners turned out in the Blue & White this weekend for this popular local race. The Keighley 10k & 5k on Mothers’ Day for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice are both challenging events at the start of the running season sponsored by the Modality partnership. After a route refresh for 2023 the 10k and 5k route now follow a circular route through the paths, parks and hidden gems of Keighley. The 5k now starts and finishes at Victoria Hall as does the 10k. Both routes take in a section of the Leeds Liverpool canal towpath and the stunning East Riddlesden Hall. The 10k route also takes in the stunning Keighley Golf Club. However, the inclement weather made for tough conditions today. Relentless rain made conditions underfoot challenging to say the least! Mud and puddles were the order of the day! Several Eccleshill entrees decided not to venture out and some agree it was a good decision!! All finishers received a bespoke Keighley 10k or 5k T-shirt, water and a banana. As the event takes place on Mothers’ day many people run or walk with their mum, for their mum or in memory of their mum. Taking advantage of the ‘early bird’ offer this year were Ann Buckley 80.01, Vicky Cousins 60:05, Linda Bussey, 67:40 Trevor Rhodes 52:44, Martin Steele 65:50, Marc Steele 57:36, Julie Steele 63:19 with Kathryn Lucas 42:03 and & Alison Hartley 42:02 completing the 5k! Well done everyone, team work at it’s best once again with everyone cheering all our runners in at the finish!
