Another “Grim Up North” event along the Leeds Liverpool canal was enough to tempt our very own Sarah Rawlings today. Not one to miss an opportunity to keep those race legs going, Sarah donned the blue and white on the start line at Bingley for this out and back Saturday event which bpasted good towpath underfoot for the most part. The Recession Run offers participants a multitude of distances to tempt every calibre of runner, the idea being to run as far or as little as you prefer for a fixed price of £20. Starting with a 6.55 miler the other options on offer were half marathon, 20 miler, full marathon or ultra marathon. Particpants were met with a tad windy but fairly warm & mild conditions this morning. Previous down pours though, meant lots of puddle dodging and some muddy sections on the canal towpath. Sarah chose the half marathon distance. In keeping with the ‘recession’ theme, there were rewards for all finishers, a Jumble medal (a choice of various medals left over from previous events with the ‘recession run’ ribbon), dripping sandwiches, cheese and pickle hedgehogs and other recession delights. Sarah finished this one in 02:42:30. Great running once again Sarah, well done!
