BAILDON BOUNDARY WAY – SUNDAY 7TH APRIL, 2024

Tony Redmond was the only Eccleshill representative on the start line of this years Baildon Boundary Way half marathon (anda bit!). Hosted by Baildon Runners, 2024 saw the 29th staging of this popular local race. The multi terrain, challenging half marathon start is close to the HQ at Baildon Rugby & Cricket Sports Club, Heygate Lane, the course is mainly off-road through hilly woodland but has a good mix of good paths, road and canal towpath. This year’s course made all the more challenging by the constant on and off heavy rain making for wet, muddy conditions underfoot, Tony commented it was the worst he had known it! The route takes runners past many significant locations, including World Heritage Site, Salts Mill. Also visible along the route is the ‘Woolpack’ pub in Esholt Village, known from the TV series Emmerdale. Out in the blue & white, Tony is no stranger to trail running on off-road courses on a regular basis, however, recent rain made sure there was plenty of deep mud and puddles to contend with coupled with the windy weather, being more prevalent up on the moors it was a tough day at the office! Tony accompanied his brother around the course in 02:43:45. Well done!
