Two Eccleshill Road Runners took on the South Cave 10k this weekend. A very warm Sunday greeted runners to the picturesque East Yorkshire town of South Cave for the fourth edition of this now popular race. Hosted by Kingston Upon Hull Athletics Club, the race takes in some beautiful scenery through quiet country roads and provides just enough of a challenge to keep even the seasoned striders on their toes. The race starts at the beautiful gates of Cave Castle – not many start lines in Yorkshire can boast such a battle-ready backdrop 🙂 through the historic town of South Cave (not a village, locals will remind you: it was granted a town charter by King Edward I in 1291!). Participants then run through the countryside to the pretty village of Ellerker before looping round and returning to South Cave, with a couple of sharp climbs to add to the fun before the run is completed with a lap of the local playing field. Despite the very warm conditions this weekend and the sneaky hill to the finish most agreed it was a brilliant race, well organised and really well supported. Finishers were rewarded with a bespoke medal and a tee shirt. Vicky Cousins finished in a brilliant time of 53:41 and Sarah Rawlings closely followed in 57:29 Well done Ladies!
