GREAT NORTH RUN – SUNDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER 2024

The Great North Run 2024 proved a challenge in more ways than one. Firstly, the pair arrived up North only to discover they had left their running numbers at home!! To cut a long story short they were rescued by a relative of a relative who just happened to be travelling back home and kindly retrieved and delivered them in time for the race! The organisers decided to make changes to the start process in the form of arrival & start times, entry into pens to name but a few. Those of you who have participated before will have no doubt cursed at the time it took you to get over the start line?! Well this year was even worse! Not getting over the line until midday Martin & Julie Steele were absolutely soaking wet after the heavens opened and the inclement weather continued for the most part of the race. As usual though, the support from the locals out on the course from start to finish was immense. Bands – a total of 12 to be exact, played all the way round and once again made for a fabulous event. Supporting each other all the way around Martin & Julie crossed the line together in 02:18:09 Well done! Here’s to 2025, good luck to all those who have entered the ‘early’ ballot for an extra chance to gain a place and don’t forget if you are unsuccessful there is a second ballot in January so all is not lost!
