Eccleshill had two members today taking part and completing this iconic half marathon, joined by t more in the 10k in addition social member Sarah Myers also completed the 10k. Taking the blue and whites to this race that covers the entire coast of Benidorm were Vicky Cousins and Sarah Rawlings joined by Trevor Rhodes, Kathryn Lucas and Linda Bussey doing the 10k in addition social member Sarah Myers also completed the 10k. The town has been popular with tourists for many years, and the half marathon has grown in popularity and reputation with runners flocking from all over to take part. This is a well organised event on a revised, flat and fast course, ideal for those seeking that elusive PB at either distance, ‘start with the sunset and finish with the stars’! Billed as a spectacular production, a running fiesta with animation at the start and the finish line, this extraordinary run gives participants a rare opportunity to run at dusk amidst the sky scrapers and close to the sea. Steel bands and other musicians play and along with the thronging crowds, encourage the runners along the route.
Starting at the Town Hall the route takes in a lap of the busy seafront and Town Centre, this is where the 10k splits off to finish whilst the half marathon runners loop round again to complete a longer lap of the sea front before returning back to the Town Centre and finish line back at the Town Hall. Vicky finished in 2:09:47, Sarah finished in 2:23:14 & our 10k runners Trevor 51:17; Kathryn 1:36:17, Linda 1:19:30 & Sarah 1:10:30 Fantastic running evryone, well done!
