Eccleshill’s Annie Kisluk was once again racing in her favourite part of the world, The Lake District. Taking on the Coniston 14, billed as probably the most beautiful road race in Britain. Each year it attracts some 1600 runners and has a reputation for being one of the best organised small races in the country. The Race is organised by an enthusiastic committee of volunteers from Coniston village. The race starts and ends at John Ruskin school and Playing field and is Coniston’s largest annual community event, organised by a small committee from the village. Each year an incredible £20,000+ is raised from the Race and this is donated to about 30 local charities and clubs.  Last year £5,000 was raised for St. Mary’s Hospice, Ulverston. A social evening is organised in early summer when cheques are presented to these organisations. Narrowly missing the rain, Annie finished the tough course in a fantastic time of 2:25:04 and earned herself a beautiful slate coaster. Well done Annie, fabulous running!
