Eccleshill Road Runners turned out in force for the ever-popular Apperley Bridge Canter (ABC) this year, with a strong squad of runners taking on the scenic and undulating 10K-ish course through fields & woods around Apperley Bridge and Rawdon. Leading the blue & whites home was Talhah Butt, storming across the finish line in a fantastic 59:11, closely followed by Marc Steele in 59:33—both dipping under the coveted one-hour mark on this mixed-terrain challenge. Next in for the club was Sarah Rawlings, clocking a strong 1:06:45, followed by Stuart Wagstaff in 1:07:51, both putting in determined efforts over the tough course. Sarah Myers followed shortly after with a solid run of 1:11:40, with Debra Grant close behind in 1:14:14. A special team moment came as Janice Magennis, Martin Steele, and Garry Ellison crossed the line together in 1:16:07, showcasing true team spirit. For Janice, this event marked a significant milestone—her comeback race after time away from racing. Congratulations, Janice! Linda Bussey rounded off the team’s efforts with a strong and steady 1:21:51, bringing home a great evening of racing for the club. A huge shout-out goes to the dedicated Eccleshill supporters who braved the drizzle to cheer on their teammates—your encouragement didn’t go unnoticed and was hugely appreciated by all the runners. Well done to everyone who took part—whether running, supporting, or simply eating cake! It was a brilliant showing from the club at one of the local racing calendar’s standout events. Well done all!
