An early start made for perfect running conditions today in Leeds for the Run For All 10k as three Eccleshill Runners and a ‘second claimer’ joined thousands of runners on the start line for this firmly established landmark running event on the Local racing calendar. The Leeds 10K was Jane Tomlinson’s vision. Having raised £1.8 million for charity while she was battling terminal cancer, in 2006 Jane knew her time left to fundraise was limited. As a result, she decided to set up the Leeds 10K to continue the fundraising vehicle for charities that she had started. Over the last 15 years the Leeds 10K has grown to become one of the highlights of the city’s events calendar, and is a hugely popular, inclusive and supported race for participants of all abilities. In many ways, the Leeds 10K captures the can-do, inspirational spirit of its founder. Throughout the route, crowds come out in force. A fantastic atmosphere and friendly volunteers make the event unforgettable for all. Finishing in in brilliant style were Garry Ellison 54.43, Jonathan Tansley 59:53 and Laura Hammond 68:59, part-timer Dan Jenkins finished in a superb time of 38:55 Well done!!A massive shout out to our Eccleshill support crew out on the route as always who made the effort to cheer the runners along!
