Hosted by Great Owl Running athis is a local event, the amazing Piglove By The River. A perfect sunny evening made for warm but really pleasant running conditions. A lovely beer garden in the heart of Citu’s Climate Innovation District, where runners can grab a picnic bench and admire the views with a pint of Piglove Brewing Co’s creative craft brews, after they’ve run the race of course. It’s the perfect spot for sunny evenings. The race offers both 5k and 10k distances. The 5k race starts at Piglove and follows the Trans Pennine Trail for 2.5km and turns around just before Thwaite Mills. This is a very fast and flat course with very good quality footpath conditions. The 10k follows the same path as the 5k but continues past Thwaite Mills and then gets ever so slightly more rugged but is still very good fast running conditions. As it follows the river it is incredibly flat, however there is one small bridge with steps tto be negotiated. Both turnaround points were clearly marked and marshalled, overall a brilliant race. Eccleshill’s Sarah Rawlings took on the 10k distance and finished in brilliant time of 59:22, well done!
