SUNSHINE EXTRAVAGANZA DAY 1 – SATURDAY 12TH JUNE, 2021

Eccleshill’s Annie Kisluk decided to up the mileage and take on a race whereby anything from 5k to an ultra were on offer. The distance of choice today was the 20 miler. Hosted by ‘It’s Grim Up North Running’, this two day event brought together two events along the canal: the ‘Canal Canter’ and ‘The Summer Extravaganza’. Whilst Covid might have caused a temporary pause in racing this lovely event helped runners to celebrate and enjoy our love of racing, the glorious canal and… Sunshine! A sunny day from start to finish made for very warm conditions, the only respite was a sneaky breeze here and there!
This perfectly flat course on good trail path made for the perfect event for runners chasing their personal best. Registration took place at the LPSA club and competitors then had a short five minute walk to the start line on the canal in Kirkstall. As usual a full range of homemade cakes awaited all runners following their race, along with beer chocolate and a brand new bespoke medal.

Annie finished in 3:46:45. Well done!
